Mahidol University founded the Applied and Technological Service Center thirty years ago (in 1976) to help staff at the university to commercialize their research findings. This center provides assistance with patent applications, licensing of discoveries, performance of commercial analyses and marketing of inventions. Thus, over the last 10 years, Mahidol University staff have been awarded some 5 international patents, 11 Thai patents, 28 Thai petty patents, 2 software copyrights and 4 trademarks, resulting from their discoveries. In addition, another 3 international patents, 58 Thai patents, and 38 Thai petty patents are under consideration.
