Mahidol University places strong emphasis on research, and is arguably the most renowned university for research in Thailand. Thus, Mahidol University produced more international publications in ISI - WOS databases than any other Thai university over the period 1999 - 2010, amounting to a total of nearly 9,227 publications, of which 7,673 publications were articles/letters/reviews. During the same period, 6,559 of these publications were cited in ISI - WOS journals, amounting to a total of 76,427 citations (on August 31, 2011).
In addition, Mahidol University staff members have been awarded 20 Outstanding Scientist of Thailand Awards from the Foundation for the Promotion of Science and Technology, and 22 Distinguished Researcher Awards from the National Research Council of Thailand (NRCT), as well as numerous Outstanding Inventor Awards, Young Scientist Awards, L'Oreal - UNESCO "Women in Science Awards", and several awards at international level. Mahidol University was also top - ranked for research in the Commission for Higher Education's first ever Thai University Rankings for 2005. |
